Thuppakki (Pistol) is Tamil actor Vijay’s upcoming movie. The film stars Vijay in the lead role. Kajal Agarwal will be the heroine of the film. Thuppakki is directed by A.R.Murugadoss and produced by Kalaipuli. S. Thanu.  Music will be composed by Harris Jayaraj his second movie with Vijay and third one with A.R.Murugadoss. Sathyan, Vidyut Jamwal and Jayaram are expected to play the supporting roles. Santhosh Sivan will be the cinematographer of the movie. The movie is distributed by Gemini which distributed Nanban. Thupakki is expected to release on August 15^th 2012. The film has also been expected to start in Hindi with Akshay Kumar in the lead role, with Murugadoss directing it.

The first look poster of Thuppakki (on the right)  also created a controversy as Vijay was seen smoking in the poster. This was widely opposed by anti-smoking activists, later the director clarified that the poster was for promotional purpose and not a scene from the movie.
