Tamilnadu schools CCE Grade System in Tamil Nadu:
The Tamil School Education department has revised the procedure of the exam system and has devised a new system called CCE Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation. This type of system is already in place in some other states as well as in the CBSE schools and similar to the college semesters.
The new CCE grading system will not be in place this year. They will be introduced from the next year 2012-13 for classes upto and from 2013-14 for classes 9 and 10. An expert committee has provide this solution.
New CCE Grading System:
In new grading system the mark allocation will be divided into two .
One for formative assessments (FA) and the other for summative assessments (SA). Formative assessments are based on other skills which excludes academic ones. Formative Assessments (FA)carry a total marks of 40 and they are based on tests throughout each term. While the other Summative Assessments are written exams. They carry out 60 marks. The total scores accumulated by a scholar is then converted into grades on a ten point scale.
Areas to concentrate for Evaluation of marks:
Evaluation is based on scholastic and non-scholastic areas:
Scholastic activities include
- All the main subjects,
- Physical education,
- Arts ,
- Yoga,
- gymnastics etc
ii) Non Scholastic activities include
- Life Skills,
- Work Experience,
- Visual and Performing Arts ,
- Attitudes and Values
- Personality Development and
- Co-curricular Activities such as Scouts and Guides, NSS, Club Activities, Indigenous sports, or any other unique individual skills.
