Kochadaiyaan is an upcoming Tamil movie starring  Tamil superstar Rajinikanth. This would be Rajinikanth’s next movie after Enthiran.  His initial project Rana was scrapped due to his illness . Rajinikanth’s daughter  Soundarya R Ashwin is the director of the project . The title 'Kochadaiyaan' was likely to be inspired from Lord Shiva or from the name of a Pandya emperor  Kochadaiyaan Ranadhiran.

Casting and Filming:

Rajinikanth is set to play the lead role while Deepika Padukone is set the play the female lead . A R Rahman is the music director .R Sarathkumar and Jackie Shroff are set to play important roles in the movie.
He will be composing the soundtrack as well as the background score. The story of the project  is written by K S Ravikumar. The film is produced by EROS International and Media One Global. Other casts have not been officially confirmed.

Kochadaiyaan is set to be India’s first Performance Capture Photorealistic film which uses the same technology as in Steven Spielberg’s Adventures of Tintin and in Avatar. The film’s first look poster was released on February 5, 2012.

Rajinikanth’s appearance in the poster has increased the imagination of fans on what could be his appearance in the project.

Update 16/3:  Rajinikanth has  sung a song for the movie which has been penned by Vairamuthu and composed by A.R.Rahman. This will be superstar's first song after Mannan in 1992.  

Shooting has begun taking place in England. The rest of the shooting is expected to take place in Chennai and Kerala. The scheduled release date of Kochadaiyaan is on Diwali this year.
