Director Pandiraj Biography, Biodata and List of Movies

Director Pandiraj was born in a small village in Thirumayam in Pudhukottai district of Tamilnadu. He worked as an assistant director to director Cheran. His first venture as a director was in Pasanga, which was a big hit and received good reviews from critics. He bagged the National Award for best dialogue writer in 2010.

Pasanga:

Pasanga was the debut movie for Pandiraj. The movie was produced by Director Sasikumar. The movie starred actor Vimal and Vega in the lead roles.
The movie concentrated on the relationship of two children who are classmates in a govt school in a small village. You can read more information on Pasanga here- Pasanga . The film bagged three National Awards. Best Child Artist- Kishore and Sree Raam , Best Dialogue – Pandiraj and Best Feature film in Tamil.

Vamsam:

Vamsam was written and directed by Pandiraj. The film starred debutant Arulnidhi who is ex- CM M.Karunandihi’s grandson and actress Sunaina. The film is yet another rural story from Pandiraj and concentrates on the Devar community. The movie received mixed reviews. It was produced by Arulnidhi’s father M. K. Thamizharasu.

Marina:

Marina was director Pandiraj’s second movie. Director Pandiraj produced the movie under his own production house Pasanga banner. The movie starred debutant Shiva Karthikeyan as the male lead and actress Oviya as the female lead. The movie starts off with a teenager Ambikapathy (Pandian) landing in Chennai in search of his livelihood. He then becomes a ‘sundal’ seller around the shores of the Marina beach. The movie then reveals the livelihood of children around the Marina beach. The children are forced to work under their family conditions eventhough they have different passion. They get acquainted with postmaster (Jithan Mohan). On the other side the movie reveals events and frequent quarrels between Senthilnathan (Sivakarthikeyan) along with his lover SwapnaSundari (Oviya) often visit the beach. The movie ends when events lead the children to enroll in school and pursue their dreams.

The promo song of the movie ‘’Vannakam Vazhavaikkum Chennai featured several movie stars Ameer, Prakash Raj, Sasikumar, Sneha, Vikram, Vimal who are immigrants to Chennai. The movie fared well in the box-office.
